Our Story

We’ve lived in vans, travelled from the top of Scotland to the bottom of England, crossed Europe, picked up hitchhikers along the way, and found ourselves in situations we definitely never planned for.

We’ve run a furniture business, rescued and painted old pieces, sold thousands of sweets during Covid, and somehow ended up swapping the roads for the waterways.

We bought a boat with very little experience, travelled along the canals, tackled the famous 21 locks at Wigan, and even took our little boat down the River Thames, passing underneath Tower Bridge and opening sea locks as we made our way along the waterways.

Then there was Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, wild swimming, hot springs, roadside adventures, broken-down vans, canal journeys and all the unexpected people we’ve met along the way.

And now we’re in Bulgaria, living in a house we bought on impulse and wondering what the next chapter will bring.

That’s really what SteWay is about.

Not a perfectly planned journey. Not a carefully mapped-out life.

Just two people who keep saying, “Why not?” and seeing where it takes us.

Our experiences, the places we’ve lived, the things that have gone completely wrong, the things that have somehow worked, and the stories we’ve collected along the way are what make SteWay what it is.

And now those experiences are finding their way into our books, our stories, our website and everything we create.
